Assistant to the Superintendent

In support of the Countywide Vision2Read initiative, the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) is excited to assist school sites and PTA councils in promoting a passion for reading through the hosting of Literacy Assemblies. SBCSS offers support to schools within San Bernardino County whose PTAs are interested in organizing literacy-related events or assemblies to boost the love for reading among students.

During times of war, thousands of young men and women left high school to serve in the armed forces, ensuring our freedom and shaping history. The Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project, offered by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools in partnership with the San Bernardino County Department of Veterans Affairs, awards high school diplomas to veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, as well as those interned during World War II. This initiative honors their sacrifices and contributions, acknowledging their bravery and the impact they made on our communities.

The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, in partnership with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Employees’ Benefit Association, awards teachers across the County through their annual Back to School Shop with a Cop: Teachers’ Edition event. Each teacher receives a gift card for classroom supplies and resources, enriching the learning experience for students countywide.
