County Committee on School District Organization

The County Committee on School District Organization is responsible for considering proposals to change the organization of one or more school districts. Organization includes altering the number of trustees, establishing trustee boundaries, school district boundary changes, and/or unification.

The County Committee consists of 11 members—two from each supervisorial district and one elected at-large. Terms of office are four years, with staggered terms and elections held annually in conjunction with the Fall Meeting of the San Bernardino County School Boards Association.

Monthly meetings of the County Committee are typically held on the third Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., as necessary. Meetings are conducted in accordance with the Brown Act (open meeting law). The County Committee may also conduct public hearings in school districts for matters pending before the Committee.
