Special Education

The Early Start Program is also known as the Infant/Toddler program providing services to children from birth to age 3. The program provides early intervention services and supports to help infant and toddlers with disabilities or delays in their development. If a parent wants to make a referral, they can do so by contacting the local regional center or the school district of residence. The First Children's Learning and Support Services (CLASS) program is designed to provide speech therapy for students ages 3 to 5. Students in First CLASS typically only require speech therapy intervention services ranging from articulation to language needs.

Related Services include but are not limited to the following: Adapted Physical Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Orientation and Mobility, Services for Hard of Hearing and Visually Impaired, and Health Services.

Specialized Academic Instruction is offered to eligible special education students ages 3 through 22. Students are referred through their District of Residence to the Area Director in each region. Specialized Academic Instruction is often referred to as Special Day Class.
