Chaffey High School Team Black students with their fifth consecutive County Academic Decathlon Trophy

Chaffey High School Team Black claimed its fifth consecutive San Bernardino County Academic Decathlon championship, continuing an extraordinary streak of academic excellence. This year’s county decathletes learned the final results during the 43rd annual awards ceremony hosted by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools on Feb. 12.

Over 3,000 SB County Students  Recognized for Biliteracy

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) celebrated more than 3,000 high school students who are on track to receive the State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB). Marked by a gold seal on the diploma or transcript, the SSB recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading and writing one or more languages in addition to English.

2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools Graphic

Two San Bernardino County schools have been recognized as 2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. Gus Franklin Jr. Elementary School in the Adelanto Elementary School District and Day Creek Intermediate School in the Etiwanda School District are among the 31 schools statewide to receive this prestigious honor.

The pathway to a college education will be much easier for high school graduates from six San Bernardino County school districts, who will now be guaranteed admission to California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) thanks to an agreement between CSUSB and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS).

Four Educators Named 2026 San Bernardino Countywide Teachers of the Year

Four exceptional educators selected as 2026 San Bernardino Countywide Teachers of the Year were honored during a September 25 ceremony hosted by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS). This year’s honorees, representing four districts from throughout the County, were recognized for dedicating their careers to student success.

Superintendent Ted Alejandre

San Bernardino County Superintendent Ted Alejandre announced today that he will not seek re-election in June 2026 and will retire at the conclusion of his term in January 2027, marking the close of a distinguished career in public education spanning nearly four decades.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS), in partnership with the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), hosted The Wellness Conference from July 8 -11, 2025. This impactful statewide event brought together nearly 1,000 educators, behavioral health professionals, community leaders and students to address critical issues surrounding student and staff well-being.
