Celebrating San Bernardino County’s SkillsUSA Regional Success

San Bernardino County proudly showcased its commitment to workforce development and career technical education (CTE) during the 2025 SkillsUSA California State Leadership & Skills Conference, held Apr. 10–13 at the Ontario Convention Center. With 527 attendees representing local school districts—including student competitors, advisors, administrators, and chaperones—San Bernardino County had one of the largest delegations in the state.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools proudly named 63 champions following the 35th Annual San Bernardino County History Day competition. The champions were selected from over 140 projects submitted by 200 students from across the County. The winners were honored during an awards ceremony held at California State University, San Bernardino on March 1.

Student Musicians Hit All the Right Notes during San Bernardino County Honor Concerts

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) was proud to showcase more than 670 talented student musicians during three separate honor concerts. In partnership with the San Bernardino County Music Educators Association (SBCMEA), SBCSS provided students from throughout the County with the opportunity to perform in front of packed audiences which included elected officials, community members, educators, and families.

San Bernardino County Sending Two Spelling Bee Champions to the Scripps National Spelling Bee

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) was proud to crown two students as 2025 San Bernardino County Spelling Bee Champions following the intense linguistic competition held at San Bernardino Valley College on Mar. 12. Fifth grade student, Angeline Wang, and seventh grade student, Hannah Kuo, were named champions after going more than 12 rounds with their fellow competitors.

Chaffey High School Team Black Claims Fourth Consecutive County Academic Decathlon Championship Title

For the fourth consecutive year, Chaffey High School Team Black has been named San Bernardino County Academic Decathlon champions. The final announcement was made during the 42nd annual awards ceremony hosted by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools on Feb. 6.

2024 Golden Bell Awards Recipients

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) and the San Bernardino California School Boards Association (SBCSBA) proudly recognized the eight San Bernardino County school districts whose outstanding programs were selected to receive 2024 California School Boards Association (CSBA) Golden Bell Awards.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) celebrated more than 1,000 high school students who are on track to receive the State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB). Marked by a gold seal on the diploma or transcript, the SSB recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing one or more languages in addition to English.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has made a generous $100,000 contribution to San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) Alliance for Education. This donation will directly support the “Cultivating Innovation in STEM Schools” program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
