San Bernardino County proudly showcased its commitment to workforce development and career technical education (CTE) during the 2025 SkillsUSA California State Leadership & Skills Conference, held Apr. 10–13 at the Ontario Convention Center. With 527 attendees representing local school districts—including student competitors, advisors, administrators, and chaperones—San Bernardino County had one of the largest delegations in the state.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) is proud to announce that 21 school sites across San Bernardino County have been named 2025 California Distinguished Schools, honoring their exceptional achievements in either Closing the Achievement Gap or demonstrating Exceptional Student Performance.

The San Bernardino County School Boards Association (SBCSBA) and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) are thrilled to announce the outstanding 2025 Spring Awards recipients. These individuals and organizations have been selected by an independent panel for their outstanding contributions to education in San Bernardino County.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools proudly named 63 champions following the 35th Annual San Bernardino County History Day competition. The champions were selected from over 140 projects submitted by 200 students from across the County. The winners were honored during an awards ceremony held at California State University, San Bernardino on March 1.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) is proud to partner with Thinkwise Federal Credit Union to launch the Dowdy-Hope Account. Thinkwise created the exclusive account to allow at-promise youth, who wouldn’t have the opportunity otherwise, to open and maintain a bank account.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) was proud to showcase more than 670 talented student musicians during three separate honor concerts. In partnership with the San Bernardino County Music Educators Association (SBCMEA), SBCSS provided students from throughout the County with the opportunity to perform in front of packed audiences which included elected officials, community members, educators, and families.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) was proud to crown two students as 2025 San Bernardino County Spelling Bee Champions following the intense linguistic competition held at San Bernardino Valley College on Mar. 12. Fifth grade student, Angeline Wang, and seventh grade student, Hannah Kuo, were named champions after going more than 12 rounds with their fellow competitors.

For the fourth consecutive year, Chaffey High School Team Black has been named San Bernardino County Academic Decathlon champions. The final announcement was made during the 42nd annual awards ceremony hosted by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools on Feb. 6.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) and the San Bernardino California School Boards Association (SBCSBA) proudly recognized the eight San Bernardino County school districts whose outstanding programs were selected to receive 2024 California School Boards Association (CSBA) Golden Bell Awards.

Redlands High School Team Blue has been named San Bernardino County Mock Trial champions.

The San Bernardino County School Boards Association and the San Bernardino County Committee on School District Organization are now accepting nominations for the 27th Annual Distinguished Service Awards. 

The San Bernardino County Education Medal of Honor is now accepting nominations for the 34th Annual Education Medal of Honor awards. 

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) awarded a high school diploma to San Bernardino County veteran, Marvin Minter, whose education was interrupted due to military service.

The San Bernardino County Board of Education voted Dec. 16 to elect Dr. Gwendolyn Dowdy-Rodgers as Board President for the 2025 term. The Board also elected Ryan McEachron as Vice President for the upcoming year.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) celebrated more than 1,000 high school students who are on track to receive the State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB). Marked by a gold seal on the diploma or transcript, the SSB recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing one or more languages in addition to English.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has made a generous $100,000 contribution to San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) Alliance for Education. This donation will directly support the “Cultivating Innovation in STEM Schools” program for the 2024-2025 academic year.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) rang in the 2024-2025 academic year by celebrating seven exceptional employees making an impact in San Bernardino County during the SBCSS Stars in Education Celebration held on Aug. 28.

Conference leaders unveiled the new brand identity for the annual conference, which included a new name, logo and tagline. After nearly a decade, the SRSWC will now be known as “The Wellness Conference."
