Workers' Compensation

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) participates in the California State Workers' Compensation program, managed by our Risk Management Services. The program is supported by Sedgwick Claims Management Services, our dedicated Workers' Compensation Insurance Provider.

In Case of Injury

Injured employees must complete the following steps:

  1. REPORT the injury to your supervisor immediately.
  2. Call RISK MANAGEMENT SERVICES at 909.386.9671 to report injury.
  3. For MEDICAL TREATMENT ONLY, call the Injury Hotline at 888.375.0280 where a triage nurse will assess your injury.  Provide the nurse with the following search code: SBCSS. The hotline is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you are injured while working after hours, on weekends or out of town on official SBCSS business and require medical treatment, you must contact the Injury Hotline directly at 888.375.0280. Call Risk Management Services when you return to work to report your injury.

Employees who have predesignated a personal physician must state that to the triage nurse when reporting their injury. Risk Management Services will need to verify that a completed Pre-designation of Personal Physician form is on file in Human Resources and Risk Management Services.

The employee and immediate supervisor will be required to complete the "Employee/Supervisor Incident Report" if medical treatment is needed. In some cases, the injured employee will also receive a Workers' Compensation Claim form (DWC 1) in addition to the Employee/Supervisor Incident Report. These forms are then forwarded to Sedgwick Claims Management Services, our third-party administrator, for further processing. All forms are time sensitive and need to be completed within 48 hours.
