General Responsibility

Workers' Compensation

The County Superintendent of Schools maintains that workplace safety is a shared responsibility of all employees. Every staff member is expected to follow safe work practices and promptly report any unsafe or hazardous conditions. Supervisors are required to actively promote a culture of safety and to address unsafe practices through ongoing education, training, and enforcement of established safety standards.

General Liability

SBCSS’s general liability insurance program provides coverage for damage, loss, or injury arising from the routine operations of SBCSS and its school sites, when such matters are not covered by other, more specific insurance programs. This coverage extends to every SBCSS location and department, as well as to all employees conducting official SBCSS business.

Injury, Illness Prevention

The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) participates in the California State Workers’ Compensation program, administered through Risk Management Services and supported by our third-party administrator, Sedgwick Claims Management Services.
