Use of School Grounds

The Program Manager, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation, is the Superintendent’s authorized representative for the use of school grounds.

School Grounds Use Application Procedures
  1. Applicants requesting use of grounds should secure a Request and Agreement for Use of School Grounds Form (Application) from the school site.
    1. The Request and Agreement for Use of School Grounds Form must be completed by a responsible representative of the organization wishing to use a school grounds. Any persons applying for the use of school grounds on behalf of any society, group, or organization shall be a member of the applicant group and, unless he/she is an officer of the group, must present written authorization from the applicant group to make applications.
    2. Applicants must indicate the name of the organization that is making the application and the purpose for which the grounds are to be used.
    3. Applications shall be submitted at least four (4) weeks in advance of the intended use date(s).
    4. The site principal shall determine the availability of the grounds, indicate his/her approval/disapproval of the Application and forward the Application to the Program Manager, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation for final dispensation.
  2. All non-SBCSS organizations requesting use of school grounds must provide proof of liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1,000,000 and have San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools named as an additional insurer on the policy. The Program Manager, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation must have proof of the required liability insurance before the organization may use the grounds.
School Grounds Use Requirements and Restrictions
  1. Authorized representatives or other responsible parties must have a copy of their approved Application in their possession whenever using Superintendent sites.
  2. Persons/groups using Superintendent sites are required to observe all posted restrictions, i.e., no smoking, no drinking, no drugs, etc. and are prohibited from driving vehicles into areas not normally identified for parking.
  3. The Superintendent will not make nor approve any physical changes to any Superintendent grounds to accommodate a Request and Agreement for Use of School Grounds Form.
  4. Users of Superintendent sites may not bring any building or apparatus, i.e., bleachers, port-a-potty, soccer goals, storage building, etc., onto a site for any reason without written approval from the Program Manager, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation.
  5. The Superintendent reserves the right to restrict a field(s) from community use for a period of time to allow the field(s) to regenerate or to perform maintenance.
Damage to School Property

Groups or individuals using school grounds under the provisions of this policy and its procedures shall be liable for any damages to Superintendent property caused by the activity of the group or individuals. The Superintendent shall charge the group or individuals causing the damage the dollar amount necessary to repair the damages, including, but not limited to, materials, wages, rental of temporary facilities, etc. Further use of school grounds may be denied to the responsible groups or individuals.
