5141.22 - Infectious/Communicable Disease

It is the policy of the Student Services Division to provide an educational setting that recognizes the dual responsibility to protect the health of students and staff from risks posed by an infectious/communicable disease and to uphold the rights of students to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

In the implementation of this policy, it is the position of the Student Services Division that each case involving the question of how to best provide educational services to students with an infectious/communicable disease should be reviewed by qualified officials, in a discreet manner, and treated on its own individual merit.

The reporting procedures will ensure both the right of privacy for the student with an infectious/communicable disease and the opportunity for the reporting person to quickly access the procedures for safety and health purposes.
