4111.3, 4211.3, 4311.3 - Affirmative Action Plan

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools recognizes a basic commitment to equal opportunity for all individuals in employment and education. It is the policy of the County Superintendent of Schools to uphold federal and state laws and other directives in promoting an Affirmative Action program that ensures that discriminatory practices are eliminated in all areas of Office employment and educational programs.

Education
A major objective of this Office is to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, parental or marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, veteran status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, socio-economic status, sex, or sexual orientation.

The Office fully recognizes the importance of providing all students with the proper environment to grow emotionally and intellectually through participation in the full range of educational programs and activities.

Therefore, the County Superintendent of Schools believes a multicultural educational program is a part of all educational policies and programs which seek to develop each student’s full potential and foster an appreciation for cultural diversity in our society.

Employment
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Office reaffirms its current policy position as an equal opportunity employer and upholds the right of every person to be employed and to advance on the basis of merit, ability and potential.

Affirmative Action Plan
A portion of the Affirmative Action Plan documents the separate work force profiles of officials and managers, professionals, office and clerical employees and service workers. Each is analysed for under-utilization of employees in each protected group.

The plan explains the available labor force, the projected vacancies in each category of employees and the specific goals that have been set on a timetable.

The Plan offers other information including its wide distribution and its auditing and reporting provisions. The Affirmative Action plan can be reviewed in the Human Resources.
