3544 - County School Vehicles

The County Superintendent of Schools provides a limited number of vehicles for use through Business Support Services The use of these vehicles is limited to official business use when: there will be two or more occupants per vehicle; when traveling greater than 35 miles one way; or transporting excess conference or workshop materials. In addition, employees must be on the Approved Driver List through Risk Management Services, Business Services. Due to the limited number of vehicles, overnight use is discouraged unless dictated by the location of the conference/event. Exceptions to the use of vehicles shall be approved by the Director, Business Support Services. Exceptions to the Driver and Passenger Requirements and Responsibilities will be approved by the Assistant Superintendent Business Services.

No driver or passenger in any County Superintendent of Schools vehicle should have an expectation of privacy in its use. At all times, there should be an expectation that global position systems and vehicle performance tracking or similar locating devices have been installed and are being monitored.

Regulations and procedures for vehicle use shall be established and updated as required and directed.
