1250 - School Volunteers
Visits to school by parents, adult residents of the community and interested educators are welcomed and encouraged. In order for the educational program to continue undisturbed while visitors are present and to prevent disruptive persons into the schools, it is necessary to apply guidelines for school visitors.
Visits to classrooms during school hours by parents, agency employees such as Regional Center, or other visitors shall be arranged prior to the visit, with both the teacher and the county schools principal. If a conference is desired, an appointment should be made with the teacher during non-instructional time. Teachers are not expected to take class time to discuss individual matters with visitors.
All parents and other visitors shall comply with all campus rules as established by the local school district and/or county schools. On school sites where there is a school office, visitors must check in at the school office prior to entering the classroom. This will help to ensure the safety of all students and staff. In addition, the classroom visitation log must be signed.
The principal has the authority to prohibit entry of any person to school grounds, or to ask any person to leave school grounds, when there is reason to believe the presence of such person would be disruptive to the order of the school. Loitering on school grounds is prohibited and unlawful.
