0500 - Review and Evaluation in Planning

It is the intent of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools to provide services to the various clients served by the County Schools Office in a manner that is appropriate and includes the client’s perspective.

Therefore, the County Schools Office will seek to evaluate the types and levels of service being provided to school districts on an annual basis. It is intended that this evaluation clarify existing services that are not needed due to either contraction or expansion, as well as services currently not being provided, and the reaction of school districts to the need for such services.

As a result of this evaluation format, the County Schools Office shall utilize client-solicited information in its planning procedure and in providing leadership. The evaluation process shall be completed by February. The results of the evaluation shall be incorporated into the annual goals which will be completed prior to March. These goals shall be merged into the budget development process by April.

The budgeting process and its application of resources shall be critical in terms of allocating sufficient dollars to carry on the appropriate levels of services as derived from this planning procedure. Staff shall be responsible for developing information for the County Superintendent of Schools review. The County Superintendent of Schools will be the responsible party to make appropriate decisions and budgeting authorization to insure our commitment to meeting school districts’ needs. The County Superintendent of Schools will report these decisions to the County Board of Education.
