Academic Programs, Outreach and Student Engagement

California State Content Standards called for an integrated curriculum that challenges students to think in complex ways and to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired. Therefore, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) promotes diverse, equitable and inclusive participation in all countywide student events.

SBCSS events are designed to engage students and encourage risk-taking and learning through an experiential approach that provides students an opportunity to imagine their educational journey. These student events support the culmination of year-long educational programs that encourage students to explore their passions using academic content.

All students countywide in grades 4-12 are encouraged to participate and learn skills that will support the 4 C’s of collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication, with persistence and resiliency at the foundation. Student events involve partnerships with districts, school staff, parents, students, and the community. SBCSS believes that student events expand the world of opportunities and allow students to understand the possibilities of what they can accomplish when provided an opportunity to access new and innovative challenges.

SBCSS invites you to return to this website often to learn more about how student events can support your district or school's State Standards and 21st Century driven classrooms.
