Our Strategic Initiative: Arts Connect
Preparing students from cradle to career for future success!
Students in San Bernardino County schools have the right to equitable access, sequential learning and participation during the regular school day in the arts disciplines of dance, media arts, theatre, and visual arts, as stated in California Education Codes 51210 and 51220.
Arts Connect: SBCSS Arts Education Initiative
- Aids districts in the development of strategic arts education plans
- Offers professional learning opportunities to support teaching and learning in the arts
- Supports advocacy efforts that promotes all students' equity and access to arts education
- Works with partners to build a vibrant arts enriched community in and out of school
Arts Connect: SBCSS Arts Education Initiative supports school districts in their efforts to
- Offer sequential courses of study in the arts disciplines taught by credentialed teachers in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts
- Improve and expand teaching and learning for all students in TK-6 in the arts disciplines of dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts
- Provide equitable access for all students in grades 7-12 to instruction and participation in the arts disciplines of dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts as part of the regular school day
- Partner with Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino (RIMS) California Arts Project, a regional California Subject Matter Project site of The California Arts Project serving the RIMS region located at California State University, San Bernardino
- Partner with community arts organizations through local partners of the Arts Connection: The Arts Council of San Bernardino County and other local partners
