Curriculum/Instruction and Academic Enrichment

Curriculum/Instruction and Academic Enrichment (CIAE) Network and Multilingual Education Network provide updates on current legislation impacting instruction, evidence-based practices, educational trends, resources, and effective instructional practices. The network meetings offer timely, pertinent information and resources that assist districts with remaining at the forefront of educational initiatives and best practices. Participants have the opportunity to collaborate and network with colleagues from other districts. Information presented during the network meetings is designed to be shared with district and school staff.

The purpose of the Ethnic Studies Adoption Toolkit is to provide school districts with a process for developing, adopting and/or integrating high quality ethnic studies programming, based on the guidelines of the state adopted Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum in order to meet the high school graduation requirement now mandated through Assembly Bill 101 and the updated California Education Code.

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools supports districts and communities throughout the County as they help all students to continue to develop the literacy skills they need to be successful in the classroom, at home and in their community. The Literacy Toolkit is designed to be a self-selected pathway, where districts or schools can choose to create a comprehensive literacy approach that will meet the needs of their local context or access literacy resources that align with the five themes in the ELA/ELD Framework. These resources include preschool through grade 12.

Classified Employee Grant

Awarded by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the Classified Employee Grant (CEG) seeks to provide guidance and financial assistance to educators who are pursuing a teaching credential. The CEG was awarded in 2022 to a five-county consortium including Orange County Department of Education (OCOE), Butte County Office of Education (BCOE), Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE), San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS), and San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE). The goal of the CEG is to address the state’s teacher shortage in the areas of STEM, special education, bilingual education, and transitional kindergarten. In addition, the CEG seeks to provide financial assistance to help participants complete their undergraduate education and/or teacher preparation program.  Additional support will be provided to grant awardees via academic guidance and transitional support as they become credentialed teachers in California. Our CEG participants will have access to approximately $3,500 per year to assist with teacher education pathway.
