Charter Schools Office

San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) believes in the educational options and innovative practices provided by the authorization of high-quality charter schools that hold rigorous standards for the students they serve. SBCSS believes in developing collaborative and positive relationships with charter school partners that respect the autonomy granted to charters while ensuring accountability to all education partners.

SBCSS Charter Schools Office (CSO) receives and reviews charter petitions on behalf of the San Bernardino County Board of Education. The CSO also coordinates the oversight of charter schools authorized by the County Board of Education. In addition, the CSO also provides general information and technical assistance to school district authorizers and charter school operators.
