About Us
Representing the largest county in the contiguous United States, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) is responsible for the education and support of 33 school districts and nearly 400,000 students. Additionally, SBCSS provides direct support and oversight to the county’s most vulnerable students, including those experiencing homelessness, those in foster care, those who are incarcerated and students with exceptional needs. As a county office of education, SBCSS is dedicated to ensuring all students, regardless of their circumstances, receive an equitable, innovative and inspiring education.
Our work is made possible by the hard work and dedication of our seven branches: Office of the Superintendent, Business Services, Education Support Services, Human Resources, Innovation and Engagement, Student Services and Technology. Our branch leaders and over 2,400 employees work tirelessly to support and promote student and staff success throughout the County.
Whether it be offering families quality and nurturing preschool opportunities, providing at-risk populations with the resources and support they need to succeed outside the classroom, equipping educators with the latest training on emerging technologies, celebrating the achievements of our students and staff, or offering training in emerging and essential fields for adult students, our work is truly dedicated to supporting our communities from cradle to career.
SBCSS is immensely proud of the proven programs we continue to implement and expand, as well as the new, innovative and inclusive learning environments we provide our students and staff. We lead with the hope that our efforts inspire students to embrace lifelong learning. By establishing a strong educational foundation, we believe our students will leave our schools prepared with the skills and knowledge that will not only help they achieve their full potential but also provide them with lifelong advantages.
For over 170 years, SBCSS has been committed to the full spectrum of education, shaping the educational landscape within San Bernardino County. We look forward to the future and many more years of transforming lives through education.
